ARTISTS: Johann Louw, Musha Neluheni, Pontsho Sikhosana, Hanneke Benade, Molefe Thwala and Lehlogonolo Mashaba
The Gallery at Grande Provence is privileged to present, 'BACK FROM PARIS', an exhibition showcasing lithographs by renowned South African and French artists, in collaboration with the RENDEZVOUS ART PROJECT.
The initiative of the Rendezvous Project, now in its fourth year, is to develop links between business, educational institutions and the arts. Between April and June 2010, the project afforded artists the opportunity to participate in an educational exchange program. Six South Africans - Johann Louw, Musha Neluheni, Pontsho Sikhosana, Hanneke Benade, Molefe Thwala and Lehlogonolo Mashaba, were chosen by a panel of judges to attend workshops at the studio of master lithographer, Elisabeth Pons, in Paris, France. The works produced during these workshops had an exhibition entitled "Back from Paris" as a result and has been showcased in various university and institutional galleries throughout South Africa in 2010 and in 2011. This exceptional body of lithographical works, which include works by young French lithographers, was instrumental in strengthening cultural relations between South Africa and France.
