The CSA 2010 National exhibition will showcase some of the finest contemporary ceramics being produced by South African Potters. There are two categories: Ceramics for Use and Ceramics for Expression; thus a wide spectrum of ceramics will be on show - from dinner services to clay sculpture; form tea pots to figurative art .
Ceramics Southern Africa will celebrate its 40th year of existence in 2012. It started in Johannesburg when a small group of passionate potters decided to form a group with the aim to promote pottery in South Africa. The pioneers at that time included the icons of the pottery world - Time Morris, Esias Bosch and Hyme Rabinowitz. Martin Zaalberg started the Western Cape Potters Association which continues to this day. The aims of the association are still true to its original mandate - to promote, market and teach ceramics.
American Master Potter Jeffrey Oestreich has been invited to South Africa to give a series of workshops as part of the build up to the National Exhibition. He will be the Award Judge for the Exhibition which carries a Premier Award worth R 10 000 as well as other prizes. Jeffrey will be the opening speaker at the exhibition.
The CSA 2010 National Exhibition will open at 11:00 on Sunday 10th October at The Gallery at Grande Provence and will run until Sunday 27th October. The Gallery is open daily from 10:00 - 18:00
