16 July 2008 – The annual South African Terroir Wine Awards 2008 presented the internationally renowned 5 Star Grande Provence Heritage Wine Estate, Franschhoek with both the regional and national awards for the best Chardonnay and best Cabernet Sauvignon.
Grande Provence’ celebrated Winemaker Jaco Marais enthuses: "I am thrilled that our wines have been recognised for such prestigious accolades – testimony to a great team effort. This year we entered these 2 wines as we felt they really exhibited the terroir and we are delighted that both wines won national awards!"
SA Terroir Wine Awards honors wines which truly exemplifies South Africa's established wine growing areas. According to Dave Hughes, South Africa’s renowned international wine expert and judge, there is no other wine competition in the world in which the wine of origin rules are applied to this extent, making it the most exclusive wine competition on the international scene.
