8 February 2008 The 5-star Grande Provence Wine Estate, Franschhoek will host their annual Harvest Festival on Saturday 01 March 2008 from 08h00. Tickets cost R230.00 per person inclusive of a light breakfast, all the harvest festivities, a bottle of wine per person and a sumptuous spit braai lunch on the manicured lawn under the oak trees with live entertainment.
After coffee and muffins, award winning winemaker, Jaco Marais will take visitors into the vineyards and guide them through the harvesting process.
States Marais: It is inspiring to see how passionate people can be about wine. Harvest Day is always a highlight on my calendar as I look forward to interacting with guests and not only sharing but gaining insight from them as well.
From 10h30 onwards guests are invited to foot-stomp grapes to live music. At midday a lamb spit braai with salads, roast potatoes, rolls and dessert will be served with a complimentary bottle of Angels Tears wine per person. Additional refreshments such as wine, cold drinks and water will be sold on The Estate. Coinciding with lunch an array of games can be enjoyed such as Boules and The Croquet Team Challenge.
Guests are advised to bring a hat and protective sunscreen as well as a change of clothing for those taking part in the grape stomping.
