Franschhoek Literary Festival, 18-20 May 2018

One hundred and ninety-seven writers, chairs, and subject matter specialists; one hundred and thirty-plus events, a tiny staff contingent, a seemingly tireless group of dedicated volunteers – and tremendous sponsors. All we need now is enthusiastic readers and curious audiences to make this yet another unforgettable festival.

We hope you’ll find just the right mix of literature, politics and current affairs, special interest, poetry, creativity, light reading, humour and controversy to keep you on the edge of your seats. We’ve tried to spread the authors out, so if you miss your favourite in one event, you should find them in another.

Bastille Festival, 14-15 July 2018

Save the date for SA’s French inspired 25th annual Franschhoek Bastille Festival, which takes place at the historic Franschhoek Huguenot Monument on 14 and 15 July. A social calendar highlight, the weekend long event is guaranteed to bring out the Parisian in you.

The captivating village is a hive of activities, dressed to the nines in the French colours of red, blue and white for the weekend, embracing its French heritage, and adding to the hype and excitement the weekend has become known for. Although the valley embraces the French theme to perfection, the Food & Wine Marquee, which is set against the backdrop of the historic Huguenot Monument, is the place to be and be seen.
